KIM ZAWACKI, M.A.

Principal Investigator/Project Manager

JRIA Principal Investigator and Project Manager Kim Zawacki, M.A. brings to bear a wide range of skills and expertise in the field of cultural resource management. With over 16 years of experience, she has directed all levels of archaeological investigations in the mid-Atlantic region on behalf of government, private sector, and non-profit clients. Ms. Zawacki has worked for a number of museums and historic sites, including the Valentine Richmond History Center, Tredegar Iron Works, George Washington’s Ferry Farm, Tryon Palace, and Monticello. She has served as director of a CRM firm where she was responsible for managing staff in multiple offices, analyzing project needs, and preparing research designs, proposals, and agreement documents. Throughout her career, she has cultivated excellent working relationships with a variety of clients and regulatory agencies, developing effective and efficient strategies to resolve effects to historic properties. Her professional areas of expertise include material cultural studies, historic ceramics and bottle glass analysis, quantitative methods, 18th -and 19th-century domestic sites, Civil War camp sites, predictive modeling, and archaeological research design. She also has specialized experience in artifact analysis, collections management, and database design and management.
